Date Night When You Have a Baby at Home: A Realistic Guide
You deserve a night off. Here is how to actually take one without the guilt spiral.
The couples who need a date night the most are usually the ones who have the hardest time taking one. New parents. Parents of toddlers. Parents of kids under five. They are exhausted, they miss each other, and they have not been alone together in weeks or months. But every time they think about booking something, the guilt kicks in.
We hear it constantly. We should, but. We want to, but. We will, eventually. The eventually keeps getting pushed.
The guilt is normal. Take the night anyway.
Every couple with young kids who has stayed at The Retreat has told us the same thing the next morning: we should have done this sooner. Not because the night was fancy or expensive. Because they remembered what it felt like to be two people instead of two parents for a few hours.
Your kid will not remember the one night you were gone. But you will remember the night you reconnected. That math is worth doing.
The logistics that actually work
Book a weeknight. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are the easiest nights to find childcare and the rates are lower. Drop the kids with grandparents or a trusted sitter. Drive 20 minutes to The Retreat. Check in at 4 PM. Be in the hot tub by 5. Eat at the property. Be asleep by 10 if you want, or stay up for the fire pit and a movie. Check out at 11 AM the next day. Pick up the kids on the way home.
Total time away: about 19 hours. Total planning required: one babysitter call and one booking. That is it.
What new parents actually do here
Sleep. That is the first thing. A lot of new parent couples tell us they slept nine hours straight for the first time in months. After that, the hot tub. Then a meal they did not have to cook or clean up. Then a conversation that lasted longer than the time between putting the baby down and passing out on the couch.
It is not complicated. It does not need to be. You just need a place where nobody needs you for a night.
The Date Night package starts at $499. Book a weeknight for the best rate. Text (404) 541-9934 if you want help planning it.
