The Case for a Weekday Date Night (and Why Tuesday Might Be Your Best Option)
Saturdays are overrated. Tuesdays are underbooked. Here is why the best date nights happen on days nobody expects.
Saturday night is the default. If someone says date night, you picture a Saturday. But Saturday is also the night with the most competition for your time. There are dinners with friends, family obligations, events, kids' activities that bled into the evening, and the general weight of a week that finally caught up to you.
Tuesday has none of that. Wednesday has none of that. Thursday, if you can swing it, has none of that. The weekday date night is the most underrated move in the relationship playbook, and here is why.
The rates are lower
At The Retreat, weekday stays start at $499 for The Date Night package. Weekend stays start at $599. The experience is identical. The property is the same. The hot tub is the same temperature. The fire pit burns the same way. You just pay less because it is a Tuesday.
You are less tired
By Saturday night, most people have been running all week and half of Saturday. They arrive to date night already depleted. A Tuesday date night happens before the week has ground you down. You arrive with more energy, more patience, and more capacity to actually be present. The irony is that the less convenient night often produces a better date.
The anticipation is better
When you have a Tuesday date night on the calendar, you spend Monday looking forward to it. That anticipation is part of the experience. A Saturday date night competes with the noise of a full weekend. A midweek date night stands alone. It is the thing on the calendar. Your brain gives it more weight.
How to make it work
Leave work at a normal time. Drive the 20 minutes to The Retreat. Check in at 4 PM. You have the full evening ahead of you. Check out at 11 AM the next morning. You can still go to work the next day if you need to, or take the morning slow.
If you have kids, the weekday babysitter situation is actually easier. Grandparents are more available on a Tuesday than a Saturday. Regular sitters often have weekend commitments.
The best date nights we have hosted have been on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Not because the property is different. Because the couples who show up midweek made a deliberate choice, and deliberate choices tend to produce better nights.
